The Joint Commission

Questions and concerns from you or your family facilitates communication with hospital staff and helps us improve our service. If you have a concern about patient care and safety in the hospital, please contact the Patient Advocate line at (330) 615-4046. We will do our best to address the concern.

The Joint Commission conducts unannounced accreditation surveys of Summa Barberton Hospital. The purpose of the survey is to evaluate the hospital’s compliance with nationally established Joint Commission standards.

The Joint Commission standards deal with organization quality, safety-of-care issues and the safety of the environment in which care is provided. If you have pertinent and valid information about such matters you are encouraged to notify Summa Barberton Hospital leadership. Please direct your written communication to:

The Joint Commission addresses all complaints that relate to quality of care issues within the scope of its standards. These include issues such as patient rights, care of patients, safety, infection control, medication use and security. The Joint Commission does not address individual billing issues and payment disputes. Also, it does not have jurisdiction in the individual clinical management of a patient.
